Dare I say this started it all? The desire, obsession, life-long quest for killer jeans. In fact, you didn’t even have to be alive for this ad to have an impact on your life.

We all have stories about our favorite pair of jeans; the first, the most memorable, or the the go-to pair in our closets right now. Talbots is running a super cool contest and the winner gets, yep, a trip to Paris. But not just any old trip to Paris… A trip for you and 3 of your friends, to Paris.

The skinny… and follow-up to yesterday’s post… and reason I’ve been writing in 6 word increments, [thanks for noticing]… Simply submit a story about your favorite pair of jeans, using just 6 words. It’s fun, challenging and, once you start, it’s hard to stop.

So the story goes… Ernest Hemingway gets together with a bunch of buddies and one of them puts forth a challenge. [Yes, they were in a bar.] The challenge? To write a complete story using only six words. Hemingway’s response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” Supposedly, he considered it a personal best.

Flash forward to 2006, when Larry Smith and friends launched the Six Word Memoir Project on SMITHmag.net, now an international craze and a couple of New York Times best-selling books… the kind of books you would be happy to receive as a gift.

Why am I telling you all of this? Well, I may or may not have a birthday coming up. I also happen to be a word freak and am obsessed with this website. Ok. There is one more reason. But for that you will have to wait until tomorrow…
